Working Environment:
- The Directorate of Special Units (DSU) of the Federal Police is a highly specialized support unit that offers and implements specialized support, tactics, and techniques for the benefit of the local and federal police. This unit focuses on serious organized crime and the activities of terrorist and extremist groups. DSU is a police service that can be deployed throughout Belgium and abroad if necessary, with services located in Brussels and decentralized services.
Job Description:
- Within the Directorate of Special Units, the emphasis has always been on integrating technology and making it easily accessible to the various members of the unit in the context of their missions. Due to the highly specialized nature of the missions entrusted to the unit, it has chosen to implement its own software solutions. Over time, certain foreign partners have shown interest in the DSU's solutions, leading to the desire to set up a software ecosystem enabling operational communication at the European level.
- You will be integrated into the infrastructure team of the ICT Corporate department where your role will be to participate in setting up the software infrastructure (CI/CD, K8S, etc.) and its unification with the physical infrastructure (servers, network, etc.) of the unit.
- More specifically, you will be required to participate in setting up the following technologies:
Kubernetes:
- Configuration of the Dashboard, API Gateway, Load Balancer, and cluster access authorizations.
- Optimization of the ConfigMaps, Secrets, Storage (PV, PVC) aspect.
- Definition and implementation of a DNS strategy and TLS certificate management.
- Implementation of an internal registry to store images internally.
- Implementation of monitoring and scalability tests.
CI/CD:
- Implementation of a (new) source code management platform, e.g., GitLab.
- Set up an automated deployment tool, e.g., GitLab.
Other:
- Set up a (new) project management platform that can be coupled with a continuous integration and automated deployment tool, e.g., Jira.
- Set up a documentation platform, e.g., Confluence.
Profile Description:
- You have a master's degree in computer science or at least a bachelor's degree with 3 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in a similar role is a significant added value.
- You have mastered DevOps concepts and agile principles.
- You have knowledge in setting up native Kubernetes clusters, their in-depth configuration, and setting up monitoring.
- You master external storage systems and more specifically their integration with a K8s cluster.
- You have good knowledge of DNS and TLS certificate management in an environment including several production sites (several clusters).
- You have experience in setting up Azure DevOps or Jira and Jenkins.
- Knowledge of collaborative work tools and documentary platforms such as Confluence is an added value.
- You have already worked on projects that must offer a high level of availability and robustness.
- You have a good capacity to resist stress and frustration and maintain at all times your ability to make decisions while controlling your emotions.
- You master technical English; knowledge of the second national language is an added value.
