Product Manager (New Product)

Polaroid
Netherlands · Full-time · Mid-Senior

About us: iconic brand, tiny company.

Polaroid was founded in 1937 by one of the most seminal innovators of the 20th century, Edwin Land. His motto was, “don't undertake a project unless it is manifestly important and nearly impossible.” In 2008, Polaroid shuttered its last factory but a group of diehard fans came together as The Impossible Project to save instant film. Over 10 years later that startup acquired what was left of Polaroid and today we’re again a small group of people passionate about empowering creators to change the world in the name of Polaroid.

Job Summary:

Polaroid is seeking an experienced and passionate Product Manager to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Polaroid by identifying new product opportunities and leading product exploration and development. You will be responsible for defining the long-term roadmap, conducting market research and competitive analysis, and managing the product lifecycle from ideation to launch. Working cross-functionally with engineering, design, marketing, and sales teams, you will bring innovative products to life that delight our customers and differentiate Polaroid in the market. With a strong entrepreneurial mindset, customer obsession, and a passion for technology and design, you will help expand Polaroid’s legacy of innovation and creativity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop the long-term product roadmap for new products in our portfolio: Outline a clear vision for what innovative products are the future for Polaroid.
  • Refine our collaborative product exploration process and establish how the products are positioned within the company’s overall portfolio/brand to remain differentiated in the market.
  • Conduct market research, user testing, and analyse market reports to understand customer pain points, purchasing behaviour, and find market opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, R&D, design, and software teams to influence the development of new products and features.
  • Identify great collaborators and companies to work with and set up new teams with partners to develop products efficiently.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including marketing, sales, engineering, and customer support to ensure strategic alignment and successful execution of the product roadmap.
  • Present product milestones to senior leadership to get their buy in our product direction and progress.
  • Build detailed business case analyses to justify investment in the product, including recommended pricing, financial projections, and costs for development.
  • Translate complex technical capabilities into meaningful benefits that resonate with Polaroid’s diverse customer base.
  • Guide the Go-To-Market plan for new products: collaborate with sales and marketing teams to determine the best distribution and marketing strategy for each product.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in product/portfolio management, or related roles, preferably in consumer electronics.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing or a related field.
  • An obsession for product, design and technology. People call you a nerd about your specific category and you have an uncanny intuition for where it’s going.
  • A deep care about how customers think. You can accurately predict how changes will make them feel. You love creating joy.
  • A track record working closely with engineering and design teams being the voice of the market to these teams during the development phase.
  • A business developer mindset - you love to make connections with innovators and partners in industry. You seek out new markets and always have ideas for new products.
  • Comfortability with business cases, product margins, and how to balance innovation, investments, and costs.
  • You can synthesize products, tech, features and ideas into compelling product communications for broad audiences.
  • You have an entrepreneurial spirit. You want to roll up your sleeves in an exceedingly small scaling team and be a part of building it.
  • Ability to inspire and influence throughout all levels, stakeholders, and environments.
  • A deep care about how customers think. You can accurately predict how changes will make them feel. You love creating joy.
