Site Reliability Engineering Manager

Playnetic is looking for a Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Manager to build and lead a brand-new team. If you're an AWS expert, thrive in high-growth environments, and love automation, observability, and performance optimisation, this could be the perfect role for you.

As our SRE Manager, you'll be the first hire in this space, reporting directly to the Platform Engineering Director. You'll build and scale a team of SREs from scratch, starting with a Data Engineer as your first hire.

This is a hands-on leadership role – you'll focus on the operational health of Playnetic's AWS-based gaming platform, ensuring reliability, monitoring system performance, and eliminating repetitive tasks through automation. Your work will directly bridge the gap between DevOps, development, and service management, ensuring seamless delivery.

• Observability & Monitoring – Gather real-time data, track system performance, and identify reliability issues across Dynatrace, AWS, and high-traffic gaming infrastructure.
• Reliability Engineering – Work across teams to optimise system uptime, improve platform scalability, and reduce failure points.
• Automation & CI/CD – Champion infrastructure as code, automate deployments, and remove manual inefficiencies.
• Performance Optimisation – Improve system response times, handle traffic spikes, and ensure smooth operations as Playnetic scales.
• Security & Compliance – Implement best security practices and collaborate with security teams to mitigate risks.
• Team Building – Recruit, mentor, and grow your own high-performing SRE team.

• AWS-first mindset – Deep expertise in AWS services and cloud-native architectures.
• Containerisation & IaC – Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and Ansible.
• Monitoring & Logging – Hands-on with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack.
• Background in SRE/DevOps – Either from engineering (e.g., Backend Engineers moving into SRE) or operations (Service/Incident Managers stepping into technical SRE roles).
• Leadership skills – 2+ years of team management, mentoring, or coaching experience.
• Industry experience – Ideally from gaming, sports betting, finance, or high-traffic platforms.
