Job Description:

This is a full-stack developer position where we use Kotlin, Spring Boot and Vaadin to build an application that consists of a web application where users manage data used as part of a larger ecosystem and deliver that data to other applications by a series of APIs. I’m looking for someone who probably calls themselves a backend developer but is interested in delivering full-stack solutions. This is a small team, and we don’t have specialists: we take a feature from design to delivery.

The ideal developer will be able to take a feature and decide the best way to break that feature down into stories, provide implementation options to stakeholders and then build the necessary functionality from the Postgres tables to the UI.

On a day-to-day basis, this developer will be working in Kotlin to develop features. The applications are built using Gradle and packaged as a Docker Container. Those containers are run on Google Kubernetes Engine on Google Cloud Platform. The applications use both Cloud SQL PostgreSQL and Redis for their data stores. The application provides searching via Elastic Search integration.

The team strives to deliver a Production release at least once per week, a process that the team owns and manages. The team operates using the Kanban methodology and has regular retrospectives to continuously improve the process by which we deliver software.
