THE ROLE:
Here at Karl Lagerfeld, we are in an exciting phase of transforming our Digital Commerce business and capabilities, ensuring we set a trajectory of sustainable and scalable growth. With this, we seek an experienced Product Manager within a Freelance capacity to support our e-commerce team in successfully executing a Shopify re-platforming project. As a freelance Product Manager, you will have a critical role in overseeing the migration process, ensuring alignment between business goals, technical requirements, and customer experience on behalf of the Karl Lagerfeld Digital team. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, designers, trading, IT, marketing, and operations - to deliver a seamless transition to Shopify while enhancing the overall e-commerce platform's performance.

With this, we seek an experienced Product Manager within a Freelance capacity to support our e-commerce team in successfully executing a Shopify re-platforming project. As a freelance Product Manager, you will have a critical role in overseeing the migration process, ensuring alignment between business goals, technical requirements, and customer experience on behalf of the Karl Lagerfeld Digital team. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, designers, trading, IT, marketing, and operations - to deliver a seamless transition to Shopify while enhancing the overall e-commerce platform's performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Replatforming Strategy and Planning
- Develop and drive the product strategy and roadmap for the Shopify re-platforming project in collaboration with key stakeholders across e-commerce, Marketplace,s and IT to ensure consistent Digital architecture.
- Support with a gap analysis of the current platform versus Shopify's capabilities to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Define and prioritize requirements for the migration, ensuring alignment with business objectives and customer needs.
- Hands-on involvement in all phases of the re-platforming project, bringing expertise in Shopify capabilities to guide business and technology teams.
- Partner with internal stakeholders including Karl IT, trading, marketing, operations, and leadership to gather requirements, clarify priorities, and communicate progress.
- Collaborate with Shopify and our Third Party Development Agency to translate business needs into actionable technical solutions.
- Manage vendor relationships, ensuring on-time and quality delivery of work.
- Support with educating and empowering internal teams on the Shopify platform and APP ecosystem, assisting with configuration where needed.
- Support the Project Manager to deliver the end-to-end project lifecycle, including scoping, planning, execution, and post-launch optimization.
- Support to achieve timelines and milestones, managing dependencies and risks effectively.
- Support with facilitating sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily standups as needed.
- Define and monitor KPIs to measure the success of the Shopify re-platforming.
- Conduct user research and testing to ensure the new platform delivers an exceptional customer experience.
- Continuously gather feedback post-launch and prioritize iterative improvements.
- Proven experience as a Product Manager, preferably in e-commerce and platform migrations.
- In-depth knowledge of Shopify, including its features, integrations, and limitations.
- Strong technical understanding of APIs, data migration, and e-commerce tools (e.g., payment gateways, inventory management).
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and manage cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver projects on time and within budget in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies and tools such as Jira or Monday.
- Experience with international e-commerce markets, including localization and multi-currency setups.
- Familiarity with SEO, analytics tools, and performance optimization for e-commerce platforms.
