Senior Game Designer (m/w/d*)

We’re looking for a Game Designer to join our team. You will have the opportunity to define the core playing experience for a product with potentially millions of users. You will be responsible for designing first-party games and other experiences on Soba. In addition, you will heavily influence Soba’s social features and other core parts of the experience.

We’re a small and experienced team where every team member has a lot of responsibility and can influence both what we do (product) and how we do it (culture). You will own and drive high-level features from planning through design and implementation, be involved in all stages of the software development lifecycle, and solve complex technical problems.

Tasks

• Design first-party games and build them with Soba tools with help from team members as needed
• Design other parts of the play experience in cooperation with Product and Design team
• Work with 3rd parties to help them build games for Soba’s portfolio
• Give input for Soba’s creation tools roadmap
• Help to make Soba’s user-generated games better
• Define strategy for Soba’s first-party games portfolio (genres, styles, etc)
• Contribute with your own ideas on how to make the player experience better in all parts of the product
• Act on feedback from metrics and users
  
  

Requirements

• You have experience and great understanding of various game mechanics across genres
• You’re able to prioritize tasks and work independently
• You’re resourceful and able to achieve a lot of things independently — you have a strong ability to implement gameplay using tools made by the engineers or yourself.
• You think logically with a high level of attention to detail.
• You have hunger and passion for making and playing games; you’re curious and critically think about why games succeed and fail
• Understanding and experience in building social mechanics in games and/or other products is a big plus
• You’re able to work in an extremely fast-paced environment with little structure and supervision
• You don’t guard information but share it openly with others
• You seek feedback from both users and your colleagues; You constantly look for ways to improve yourself and develop your craft
• You have a shipping mindset
• 5+ years of professional game design experience
• Shipped games from concept to launch
• Experience working with early, fast-iterating product teams is a big plus
• Right to work in Germany as we cannot sponsor visas at this point in time
