What You’ll Be Doing

The Network Administrator will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining the network infrastructure for Atturra’s diverse range of clients. Based in the Melbourne office, this role focuses on ensuring seamless network operations, optimising performance, and implementing security measures. The successful candidate will work closely with other technical resources and service delivery managers to deliver reliable and efficient network solutions while providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively monitor network performance and availability using advanced monitoring tools, ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of the network.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams and configurations.
  • Identify, analyse, and resolve network incidents to minimize downtime and service disruption.
  • Document issues, solutions, and root cause analyses for future reference.
  • Contribute to and implement ICT infrastructure policies and standards, with a focus on networking. Maintain well-architected network documentation.
  • Plan and execute ongoing maintenance, management, and upgrades of the network to ensure 24x7x365 operational readiness.
  • Take ownership of deliverables, manage timelines, and provide updates throughout the progress of tasks.
  • Proactively monitor the network to identify potential issues and mitigate them before customer impact.
  • Respond to escalations regarding network service and operations in line with service level expectations.
  • Provide technical advice and support to customers.
  • Utilize ServiceNow (ITSM) for incident management, change management, and service request fulfillment to streamline network operations and enhance service delivery.

What will make you successful in this role?

You will ideally bring demonstrated experience in network operations, alongside:

  • Knowledge of networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, DNS).
  • Experience in a large organisation, supporting 24/7 infrastructure environments.
  • Experience with Cisco Routing and Switching, Cisco Meraki, VPNs, FTD Firewalls, or equivalent networking equipment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Provide remote and onsite maintenance and support for clients' network infrastructure.
  • Offer technical support and guidance to clients.
  • Expertise in configuring and troubleshooting enterprise-grade switches, routers, and wireless access points.
  • Ability to investigate and resolve network issues.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, changes, and incident resolutions.
  • Working knowledge of ICT Risk Management, endpoint security, and Identity and Access Management (IAM). Understanding of security assessment and testing methodologies.
  • Experience working in a technical operations role implementing and maintaining networks and systems.
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining up-to-date knowledge of emerging technology and associated trends.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a quick learner who easily adapts to emerging requirements and needs.
  • Industry certifications are desirable.
  • Proficiency with ServiceNow (ITSM) application for efficient incident and change management.

Desirable Attributes

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or currently pursuing).
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a network administration role, ideally within an MSP environment.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., LogicMonitor, PRTG, or Nagios).
  • Availability to participate in an on-call rotation and occasional after-hours work.
