Freelance Data Analyst (Financial Sector) – Brussels (Hybrid, 12 Months)

Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled Freelance Data Analyst to support our financial data operations in Brussels on a hybrid basis. This is a 12-month contract with the potential for extension. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial data analysis, business intelligence, and reporting, helping drive data-driven decision-making within our organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze large financial datasets to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and KPIs using Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
• Work with SQL databases to extract, clean, and transform financial data.
• Support risk analysis, forecasting, and financial modeling to guide strategic decisions.
• Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with financial regulations (e.g., IFRS, Basel III, MiFID II).
• Collaborate with finance, risk, and compliance teams to provide insights.
• Automate reporting processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual work.
• Communicate findings to stakeholders through clear visualizations and presentations.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

• Strong SQL skills for data extraction and manipulation.
• Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, or Looker).
• Proficiency in Excel (Pivot Tables, Macros, VBA is a plus).
• Knowledge of Python or R for data analysis (preferred but not mandatory).
• Understanding of financial metrics, risk analysis, and forecasting techniques.

Soft Skills

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills to present insights to financial and non-financial stakeholders.
• Detail-oriented with a strong focus on data accuracy.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience in the financial sector (banking, investment, insurance, fintech).
• Familiarity with financial regulations (IFRS, Basel III, MiFID II).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) for data management is a plus.
