Call for Applications: IT Security Expert


MiCT (Media in Cooperation and Transition) is seeking an experienced IT Security Expert to support our team specifically for the project Digital Security Myanmar. The expert will be responsible for leading and managing digital security initiatives, overseeing cybersecurity measures, providing IT support, and integrating digital solutions to enhance the safety and resilience of civil society organizations in Myanmar.

About MiCT

MiCT is a non-profit organization dedicated to media development, journalism training, and promoting media freedom in conflict-affected regions. We work to empower journalists and media professionals by providing them with the necessary tools and knowledge to foster independent media.

Position: IT Expert Digitalization (freelance contract)

Key Responsibilities

1.        Digitalisation Project Leadership

 

•          Project Planning & Execution: Lead and manage document digitalisation project, defining scope, objectives, timelines, and resource allocation. Develop comprehensive project plans for the adoption of new digital processes, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.

•          Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact between project stakeholders, including partner organisations, freelance trainers and internal IT stuff, ensuring smooth communication and collaboration.

•          Team Leadership & Coordination: Lead cross-functional teams, managing resources and tasks, and providing guidance to ensure successful project delivery.

•          Budget & Resource Management: Oversee the budgeting, allocation, and tracking of resources for different sub-projects. Ensure sub-projects are delivered within budget, scope, and timeline.

•          Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with digital transformation efforts, including technical, operational, and security-related risks. Implement risk management strategies to minimise disruptions.


2. IT Support & Troubleshooting

 

•          Technical Support: Provide general IT support for user on-boarding as well as issues related to accounts, tools and systems for partner organisations.


3. Cybersecurity & Risk Management

 

•          Security Implementation & Monitoring: Design, implement, and monitor security measures for digital systems, like proper use of multi factor authentication.

•          Security Audits & Compliance: Conduct regular security audits to assess vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations. Recommend improvements to strengthen the organisation’s cybersecurity posture.


4. Digital Solution Design & Integration

 

•          Solution Architecture: Lead the design, implementation and improvement of desired digital solutions that drive efficiency.

•          Process Automation & Optimisation: Identify opportunities for automating processes. Optimise workflows to improve productivity and reduce manual errors.

•          Platform Integration: Coordinate the integration of additional tools and technology with the internal IT staff.


5. Systems and Infrastructure Support

 

•          Infrastructure Support: Maintain and support the digital infrastructure for partner organisation as part of the IT infrastructure to ensure it supports digital initiatives and is secure, scalable, and reliable.

•          Backup & Disaster Recovery: Oversee data backup processes and ensure the disaster recovery plan is tested and operational for the platforms in use.


6. Documentation and Reporting

 

•          Documentation: Maintain clear and detailed documentation and ensure that documentation is easily accessible for troubleshooting and future system updates.

•          Progress Reporting: Regularly report on the progress of related sub-projects, security incidents, and IT support activities. Provide insight on areas for improvement and actionable recommendations to top management.

•          Project Closure & Handover: Ensure successful closure of projects, including the formal handover of systems to the operations team with proper documentation and post-project reviews.


7. Continuous Improvement & Innovation

 

•          Stay current with tends & local changes: Keep up-to-date with the latest local development of the geographical area, especially conflict scenarios, as well as digital threats and cybersecurity best practices. Bring new ideas to the table that enhance processes and capabilities.

•          Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in both digitalisation precesses and operational processes.

•          Knowledge Sharing: Actively share knowledge within the team and partner organisations and contributing to overall security improvements.


8. Procurement & Third-Party Management

 

•          Contractor Coordination: Manage relationships with external contractors like freelance trainers.

•          Contract Management: Oversee contracts related to training personal, Digitalisation tools, software, and security services, ensuring that the terms and deliverables align with project needs.

•          Support Procurement: Ensure proper processing for financial funds, reimbursements between third-parties and the organisation to support compliance and possible audits.


Work Duration

The expert will work up to 56 days from 01.03.2025 until 31.12.2026.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in IT project management, digital transformation, or digitalization initiatives.
  • Strong background in cybersecurity, IT infrastructure management, and digital solution design.
  • Experience with process automation, cloud-based platforms, and workflow optimization.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot IT issues.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working with media organizations or non-profits is an asset.

Contract and Compensation

This position is a freelance contract role.
