Digital Platform Engineer

Key Activities:

• Work closely with teams to design, code, test, debug, document and support applications and application enhancements consistent with established specifications and business requirements to deliver business value.
• Strong understanding of event driven architectures and event streaming approaches including best practices for scaling, fault tolerance and ensuring data consistency in distributed systems.
• Experience building event driven applications with low latency and high throughput in a hybrid cloud environment.
• Extensive knowledge and demonstrable experience of Kafka including Producers, Consumers, Topics, Partitions etc.
• Understanding of general cluster management and performance tuning and also best practices in relation to security, message modelling (specifically Avro schema based), distributed tracing and debugging.
• Extensive knowledge and demonstrable experience of using Kafka Streams to deliver complex stream processing applications which include advanced concepts including windowing, joins and aggregations.

Experience:

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in software engineering, computer science, or a related field.
• 5+ years development experience building highly interactive applications in complex projects that span multiple teams. Apple/Android app delivery related experience would be a benefit.
• Experience in following fields.
• JAVA, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud Stream, REST, Kafka, Kafka Streams
• CI/CD tooling, including Jenkins, Maven, Nexus and GIT;
• Prometheus and Grafana, and moderns Devops tools and techniques.
• Experience of Agile Methodologies.
• Evidence of being a strong and committed team player with the ability to work on own initiative.
• Contribute to the continuous enhancement and improvement of the engineering function.
• Experienced in working collaboratively with IT partners (nearshore and offshore).
