The Employee Relations/Conduct team is a key function of the Global Human Resources & Corporate Citizenship organization and plays an important role in the overall success of the company’s overall human capital strategy.
Across the globe, institutional investors rely on State Street to help them manage risk, respond to challenges, and drive performance and profitability. Reporting to the Employee Relations Lead for Luxembourg, as an Employee Relations Consultant, AVP you will provide expert support and advice to the business divisions and corporate functions throughout Luxembourg, Belgium and Portugal ensuring the effective management of internal and external Employee Relations (ER) matters and ER related risks.
This is an exciting role for an experienced employee relations specialist with strong expertise in Luxembourg who may have also supported other European countries.

Reporting to the Employee Relations Lead for Luxembourg, as an Employee Relations Consultant, AVP you will provide expert support and advice to the business divisions and corporate functions throughout Luxembourg, Belgium and Portugal ensuring the effective management of internal and external Employee Relations (ER) matters and ER related risks.
This is an exciting role for an experienced employee relations specialist with strong expertise in Luxembourg who may have also supported other European countries.
Responsibilities
- Support on managing ER activities in Luxembourg and lead on ER activities in Belgium and Portugal;
- Identify, research and resolve complex employee relations issues in partnership with HRBPs, managers and employees;
- Facilitate employee relations investigations (performance, sickness absence management, conduct, grievance, anti-harassment, employment conditions). Provide support and advice to investigating and hearing managers, to ensure a fair and consistent approach;
- Collaborate with key stakeholders on employee relations and conduct matters such as legal, risk, compliance, etc;
- Collaborate with and properly manage the relationship with the legal entity Staff Delegation in Luxembourg in close collaboration with the HR Country Head;
- Provide a country view and guidance on respective local requirements with regards to global projects, initiatives and policies;
- Support and advise on latest ER practices and developments understanding changes in legislation and implementing them, as they relate to ER, where needed;
- Working as part of the wider GHR team on global, regional and country based GHR and/or business related projects and initiatives (M&A etc.).
- Ability to think systemically and consult strategically with all levels of managers and leaders;
- Good managerial courage; able to have effective critical conversations, using diplomacy and tact to diffuse high tension situations effectively;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; good listening skills and demonstrates emotional intelligence.
- Strong knowledge of employee relations as well as local labour law and regulations in Luxembourg incl. social dialogue, co-determination and experience of other European countries would be desirable; knowledge and understanding of the Luxembourg banking sector Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast paced and demanding environment;
- Demonstrate confidence when making difficult decisions and articulating the rationale behind the decision;
- Demonstrated success in collaborating and negotiating with Staff Delegation;
- Experience in working within global organization and matrix structures would be beneficial;
- Fluent both verbal and written in English; French language proficiency would be an additional advantage.
