About Your Role

In this role, you'll shape the vision and roadmap for our audio products, taking full responsibility for successful market delivery while driving decision-making, cross-team collaboration, and playing a key role in product strategy.

Your main tasks require product development skills, so we are looking for someone who specifically has experience in the consumer portable electronics market, and can become an excellent bridge between the front and the back end of developing products.

In your position you will report to the Head of Product Management and work closely with our Product Marketing Manager and Technical Product Manager in Amsterdam and our Audio Experts in the Engineering team in Asia.

Your focus area will be the Audio Category but you will support our other product managers from other product categories, like they will support you when needed.

Your Responsibilities

  • Creating the product and category vision for our audio products range. Support the development of our product roadmap together with the Head of Product Management; setting product goals, development schedules and tactics to deliver products successfully.
  • Project manage the product definition of our range of (audio) products, including the alignment with our commercial, engineering and operations team. This means you will drive all the input for the business case of the product, the specifications definition and operational requirements of your products; all important ingredients for the final product proposal that you will present to our leadership team in collaboration with our Technical Product Manager and Marketing Product Manager.
  • You will also support the development phase led by our engineering team. Especially important, is that you will own the user experience definition and execution, and you will work closely with our marketing and brand team to achieve effective orchestration of the different brand touchpoints. You will count with (external/internal) design resources that you will get to lead.
  • A large area of your work will be in making sure that our Sustainability Impact agenda trickles down and becomes tangible in every and each of the products under your responsibility.
  • You are expected to manage cross-team collaboration to achieve your product goals. You will drive decision-making related to your product category.
  • You will support other teams, providing (product) information on your category, keeping product documentation updated and ready for everyone else to use.

Your Profile

  • You feel a strong connection with Fairphone’s vision and values. You would like to match the work that you do with a commitment to putting social and environmental values first.
  • Preferably, you have around 3-5 years of experience in a similar role. Experience in managing and developing audio physical consumer electronics products is required. A study background in a related study is also a plus.
  • Having thought leadership experience in sustainability topics, for example circular economy is a plus.
  • You are proactive, collaborative, have a strong sense of initiative, and a positive attitude.
  • You like solving problems, with critical and strategic thinking, and you are not afraid of looking out of the established framework to find your solutions.
  • You enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and are comfortable learning by doing. You will be coached and where needed you will be trained on furthering your skills.
  • You are hands-on, organized and structured, have great planning skills and know how to focus even when multiple competing priorities are at stake.
  • You have strong interpersonal skills, ideally with experience in multidisciplinary and international teams.
  • You are able to present well in front of stakeholders and are able to write effectively. You are an active listener.
  • You embrace diversity in thoughts, opinions, and backgrounds.
  • You have the right to work within the EU and are interested in relocating to the Netherlands. Remote working is possible, based on mutual agreement.

  • Public transport allowance – we fully cover your 2nd class commute from your home to the office.
  • AND Bike allowance – we support you with a bike purchase of up to €300, and you’ll have a yearly repair budget of up to €80, too!
