At Expel, we’re on the lookout for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Workbench Orchestration team. In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of designing and delivering robust, event-driven systems that are vital to our cybersecurity automation. Your work will enable our expert cybersecurity analysts to transparently safeguard our customers.

You’ll partner closely with our team’s Tech Lead and Product Manager to prioritize and tackle important company goals and engineering-led initiatives. Your knack for producing high-quality, modular software will shine as you collaborate with your teammates through pair programming, design sessions, and code reviews. We value mentorship here, so you’ll also have the chance to guide less experienced engineers, fostering their growth and creating an inclusive team culture.

Success in this role means balancing technical excellence with timely execution. You’ll participate in our 24x7 operational support, always ready to dive into challenges head-first. Staying up-to-date with emerging technologies will be key as you evaluate new tools and systems to keep us ahead of the curve.

What you should bring with you

• A desire and ability to constantly learn and improve yourself and your work products
• An ability to balance competing priorities
• An eagerness to rumble and work out conflicting ideas both within and across teams
• Experience designing and delivering large scale software applications.
• Experience with a front end framework (for example Angular, React, or Ember.js)
• Proficiency with multiple programming languages (compiled and scripting) — we use JavaScript, Python, and Go
• 5+ years professional development experience

Work Location

This is a position on a fully remote team within Ireland.

Our headquarters is in Herndon, Virginia (about 30 minutes drive from the US Capitol in Washington D.C.). While our HQ is in the U.S., we are a global company! Most of our team works remotely on a day-to-day basis, and we support collaboration through a variety of online tools designed for remote teamwork.

We come together as a team in Dublin when it makes sense to collaborate in-person, usually once per month. We also hold team touchdowns in Dublin three-to-four times per year, with guests from other Expel locations and team activities.
