The opportunity

We are excited to invite applications for the Director Systems Capability Government Technology Platforms, within Digital NSW as it transforms to become the state's trusted partner for digital enablement. This is a senior leadership role that will be critical to leading through the implementation of our new value-based operating model while ensuring outcomes continue to be delivered to a high standard.

Reporting to the Executive Director, you will provide specialist technical leadership to develop and improve engineer/developer practices and capability. Collaborating closely with delivery areas, this role deploys capability and resourcing to form agile product teams and support delivery of all-of-government digital platforms, products and services. Resourcing and capabilities are managed to appropriate levels to maximise opportunities to continuously deliver value aligned to government priorities.

Drawing on your technical and business experience, you will work to optimise chapter capability, identify, manage and mitigate risks, and bolster the effectiveness and reliability of government services in an agile environment through effective learning and development. Chapters include Front-end, Fullstack (Java and .Net), Data, Product (AMANDA), native app and technical support.

This role is accountable for ensuring consistency, continuous improvement and effective delivery of strategic initiatives that support organisational wide objectives.

What you will bring to this role

• Extensive experience in a digital/ICT functional role including possessing deep technical knowledge and understanding of both legacy and emerging technologies
• Demonstrated evidence of successfully developing and coaching technologists and engineers having hand-on coding experience in a variety of languages
• Experience in delivering and improving complex, integrated ecosystems that incorporate legacy and modern technologies
• Demonstrated experience as a strategic people leader and sound financial management
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills with proven success in developing and maintaining effective engagements across complex organisations to achieve shared outcomes
• Knowledge and experience in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
