Job Description
- Extract, analyse and interpret large volumes of data to identify trends and insights.
- Develop predictive models to support decision making and business optimisation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and propose data-driven solutions.
- Design and implement data collection systems and strategies.
- Ensure data quality and integrity.
- Present findings and insights to stakeholders.
- Keep up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies.
- Contribute to the development of data governance policies and practices.
A Successful Data Scientist Should Have
- A degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, SAS, Scala, and Java (for big data processing)
- Experience with data analysis and visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and Excel
- Hands-on experience in data mining, statistical analysis, and predictive modeling
- Strong knowledge of machine learning techniques, including regression, classification, clustering, and anomaly detection
- Experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Keras
- Familiarity with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and Hive
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
- Excellent communication skills to effectively present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience in a retail or commercial environment is highly regarded
