Role Description

We seek a talented and highly motivated PhD candidate with a strong mathematical background in computer science, computational biology, statistics, mathematics, or microbial ecology. The ideal candidate will be interested in applying novel deep learning methods to enhance our understanding of the plastisphere microbiome. Potential research applications include the analysis of microbial community taxonomic and functional properties, microbial community dynamics, pattern recognition, feature extraction, and predictive modelling. The role will involve conducting research, analyzing microbiome data using deep learning techniques, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, publishing findings in academic journals, and contributing to teaching activities.

Qualifications
