Job Title: Backend Developer (Java, Spring Boot, AWS)

Location: Fully Remote, with infrequent office visits to Newport, South Wales

Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 per annum (depending on experience) + Benefits

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-time

About the Role:

We are working with a cutting-edge PropTech company to assist them in finding a Backend Developer to join their growing IT and Development team.

This role offers the opportunity to design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable backend systems, working with the latest cloud technologies. Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
• Optimise and manage PostgreSQL databases for efficient data storage and retrieval.
• Deploy and manage applications on AWS cloud infrastructure (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS).
• Implement authentication, authorisation, and security best practices in backend systems.
• Collaborate with frontend developers to ensure seamless system integration.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following industry best practices.
• Troubleshoot and debug backend issues to improve system performance and reliability.
• Stay up to date with emerging backend technologies and trends to enhance system architecture.

Key Skills and Experience:

• 4+ years’ experience as a Backend Developer or in a similar role.
• Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL or other SQL databases.
• Familiarity with AWS services, including EC2, S3, Lambda, and RDS.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
• Proficiency in version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a collaborative environment.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Experience with containerisation tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Knowledge of serverless architecture on AWS.
• Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday, 9 am – 5 pm.
