Network Administrator (Daily Rate Contract) – Westport, Co. Mayo

Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Network Support Engineer to join our team on a daily rate contract in Co. Mayo. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of network devices, troubleshooting, and data center infrastructure. This role requires hands-on experience with network hardware and software, as well as strong problem-solving skills.
- Manage and troubleshoot network devices such as switches, routers, and wireless access points (preferably CISCO certified).
- Assign switch ports to specific VLANs.
- Patch phone ports to switches as needed.
- Troubleshoot Avaya VOIP phones, including basic configuration.
- Identify and troubleshoot issues with fiber links between switches, communicating effectively with remote technical teams.
- Troubleshoot and replace network switch chassis blades when required.
- Perform periodic (minimum twice weekly) visual checks of IDF rooms for cooling and power status, including UPS alarms and PDU health.
- Utilise Data Center Infrastructure Management applications where applicable.
- Work with monitoring tools such as SolarWinds for network and system health checks.
- Assist network and data center administrators (Internal, Customer, and Vendor) in technical troubleshooting.
- Understand and interpret monitoring tool outputs.
- Work within an SLA-based environment to ensure timely issue resolution.
- Perform IMACD (Installation, Move, Add, Change, and Disposal) services for data center and network equipment.
- Handle ITSM tools, preferably ServiceNow.
- Perform server performance monitoring as needed.
- Provide basic support for backup technologies, preferably EMC Avamar.
- Work with various operating systems, including Windows Server 2003, UNIX, and Linux.
- Maintain knowledge of Active Directory structure, MS Exchange 2003, and File/Print Server management.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in enterprise data centers or hosting environments.
- Strong understanding of networking and operating systems.
- Familiarity with server and storage hardware.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting network and system-related issues.
- Local language proficiency with mandatory English communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including on-call availability outside of scheduled shifts.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CISCO certification (or equivalent).
- Experience with Data Center Infrastructure Management applications.
- Hands-on experience with SLA-based environments.
- Understanding of backup technologies such as EMC Avamar.
