Network Engineer (contract)

The Network Engineer will be responsible for leading network engineering projects, gathering requirements, and developing network designs in an enterprise environment. This role requires expertise in routing, switching, and datacenter networking, as well as public cloud networking and connectivity design. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud networking and be able to demonstrate their network design and implementation expertise at an enterprise level.

Key Responsibilities

Network Design & Implementation:

  • Lead network engineering projects, gathering business and technical requirements.
  • Develop network designs for routing, switching, and datacenter networking.
  • Implement network connectivity solutions to public cloud at an enterprise level.
  • Design and optimize public cloud networking architectures across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

Public Cloud Networking

  • Work with cloud networking solutions to support hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
  • Enable secure, high-performance connectivity between on-premises data centers and cloud environments.
  • Support application migration to public cloud by optimizing network configurations.

Technical Leadership & Collaboration

  • Work closely with IT, security, and cloud teams to ensure network designs meet enterprise requirements.
  • Document network designs, configurations, and best practices for ongoing support and compliance.
  • Assist in the evaluation and deployment of new network technologies to enhance performance and reliability.

Required Qualifications

Technical Skills:

  • Strong experience in routing, switching, and datacenter networking.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major public cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
  • Enterprise-level network design and implementation experience.
  • Knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and SD-WAN.
  • Cisco certification (CCNP required, CCIE preferred).
  • Experience with cloud network automation and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible, etc.) is a plus.

Soft Skills

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to lead network engineering projects and work cross-functionally with IT teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in migrating applications to cloud with a focus on network performance and security.
  • Multi-cloud networking experience (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Knowledge of security best practices in cloud and hybrid network environments.
  • Experience with SDN (Software-Defined Networking) technologies.
