Research Sciences Intern

Microsoft’s Azure Data team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. Within Azure Data, the databases team builds and maintains Microsoft's operational Database systems. We store and manage data in a structured way to enable multitude of applications across various industries. We are on a journey to enable developer friendly, mission-critical, AI enabled operational Databases across relational, non-relational and OSS offerings.  

 

Microsoft Azure database platform is seeking research interns to join us in pushing the boundaries of our database platform include incorporating AI capabilities with large language models (LLMs) and Machine Learning. Also Implement prototypes of scalable systems in advanced RAG systems and solutions for real world, large-scale problems.

As a Research Intern, you will have the chance to work with leading researchers and engineers at Microsoft IDC as well as Microsoft Research, and create innovative solutions to challenging research problems in the above technical areas. You will also have the opportunity to publish your work in top conferences.

Qualifications

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science or a related STEM field.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Either in building scalable data systems, or leveraging Large Language Models (LLM)/machine learning techniques for large scale data applications, or both.
• Experience with Demonstrated ability to develop original research agendas.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with other researchers and product development teams.
• Proficient interpersonal skills, cross-group, and cross-culture collaboration.
• Ability to think unconventionally to derive creative and innovative solutions.
