As an Associate Designer at Betterhomes, you will play a key role in shaping user experiences across our digital products. This entry-level position is ideal for a passionate and creative individual who is eager to learn and grow within a collaborative design team. You will contribute to the discovery, research, and creation of design solutions that align with business goals while advocating for user needs.

You will develop your skills in user research, interaction design, and prototyping while working under the guidance of senior designers.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• User Empathy & Advocacy: Develop a deep understanding of user needs, motivations, and pain points.
• Utilize empathy tools like personas and journey maps to inform design decisions.
• Problem Identification & Solution Design: Assist in identifying user problems and generating innovative design solutions using design thinking methodologies.
• Interaction & Visual Design: Create user interfaces that balance form and function. Ensure usability, accessibility, and visual consistency across all designs.
• Prototyping & Iteration: Use prototyping tools to quickly visualize and test design concepts. Iterate on designs based on user feedback and data insights.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, and business stakeholders, to ensure alignment and feasibility of designs.
• User Research & Insights: Support the design team in conducting user research, analyzing findings, and applying insights to enhance product designs.

What You’ll Need:

• A strong understanding of fundamental design principles (visual hierarchy, color theory, typography, etc.).
• Familiarity with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, and FigJam.
• Basic knowledge of user research methodologies and tools.
• Ability to create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes.
• Strong communication skills to articulate design decisions clearly.
• A proactive and collaborative mindset, eager to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment.
• An understanding of user-centered design and the ability to advocate for the user in discussions.
• 0-2 years of experience in product design or related fields.
• A portfolio showcasing design projects that demonstrate your skills in interaction and visual design.
• Technical higher education: BS/MS in Computer Science or a Design related field.
• Knowledge of accessibility and inclusive design practices is a plus.
