Job Title: Mid-Senior UX/UI Designer - Usability & Design Systems

This role is a full-time opportunity with Local Peoples, with your first project supporting the Department of Health and Aged Care’s Human-Centred Design (HCD) team. Local Peoples is a preferred partner for the Australian Federal Governments Department of Health and Aged Care’s Human Centred Design (HCD) Centre of Excellence (CoE). Beyond this project, you would be contributing to impactful co-design projects that improve services, policies, and products for communities across Australia.

About The First Project

This project will support the uplift of the existing Aged Care Gateway design capability to align with the new Digital Experience (DX) Policy

The Key Objectives Include Ensuring

• Products delivered by ACFRS comply with DXP standards by July 1, 2025.
• Processes, tools, and people are in place to sustain a robust Aged Care Design capability.
  
  

Project Details

• Start Date: ASAP
• Commitment: 5 days per week
• Location: Remote/In-office as required
  
  

Key Responsibilities

• Lead ideation, interaction design, and prototyping activities to enhance usability.
• Conduct usability testing, A/B testing, and user research to validate design decisions.
• Coach and upskill cross-disciplinary team members (e.g., BAs, PMs, developers) in UX/UI best practices.
• Contribute to building and maintaining design systems for consistency and efficiency.
• Collaborate effectively within cross-disciplinary teams in an enterprise or government setting.
• Share knowledge and contribute to practice development within the team.
• Enable the establishment of UX/UI best practices and knowledge transfer to system analysts, designers, and developers.
  
  

Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in ideation, interaction design, and prototyping.
• 5+ years of experience conducting usability testing and A/B testing.
• 2+ years of experience coaching and upskilling team members in UX/UI best practices.
• Demonstrated experience in building and managing design systems.
• Strong collaboration skills with a proven record of teamwork in cross-functional teams.
• Experience working in an enterprise or government setting.
• Passion for knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
