Join our dynamic MTS team as a Staff Engineer — a key role in defining the architecture, scalability, and performance of our cutting-edge Risk Management System. Our platform validates betting tickets in near real-time, ensuring integrity across millions of transactions spanning 300 brands, 170 bookmakers, and 40+ countries, with a user base exceeding 3.5 million.
ABOUT US:
We pride ourselves on being pioneers in sports betting technology. Our 100+ strong engineering team develops SaaS solutions using a test-driven approach, leveraging AWS to build a scalable and robust infrastructure capable of processing up to 1800 transactions per second. Our system continuously updates the state of betting markets up to 2000 times per second, providing real-time insights and an unmatched customer experience.
As a Staff Engineer, you will be the decision-maker in choosing the next engineering project by actively engaging with stakeholders to identify critical business needs and technical opportunities. You will lead and influence engineering decisions across multiple teams, collaborating closely with engineering and product leadership to drive innovation, scalability, and reliability. You will actively mentor engineers and contribute to shaping the engineering culture of our organization.
THE CHALLENGE:
- Technical Strategy & Architecture: Drive the evolution of our architecture, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability in a highly distributed system.
- Project Selection & Stakeholder Engagement: Own the identification and prioritization of high-impact engineering initiatives through direct engagement with key stakeholders.
- Cross-Team Influence & Leadership: Guide engineers across squads, elevate technical competencies, and advocate for high-impact improvements.
- Innovation & Research: Investigate and assess emerging technologies to solve complex challenges.
- Operational Excellence & Automation: Promote best practices in system design, observability, and automation.
- Scalability & Performance: Architect distributed, event-driven systems capable of handling high-volume real-time transactions with minimal latency.
- Security & Best Practices: Ensure secure authentication and authorization mechanisms across services.
- Observability & Monitoring: Implement system-wide observability using NewRelic, Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry.
- Infrastructure as Code & CI/CD: Automate and optimize delivery pipelines using Terraform, Helm, ArgoCD and GitLab CI/CD.
ABOUT YOU:
- 5+ years of engineering experience, with expertise in building distributed, high-scale architectures.
- Proficiency in JVM-based languages (Java/Kotlin/Scala) or other modern programming languages.
- A strong background in system design, scalability, and fault tolerance.
- Experience in architecting event-driven, real-time systems.
- Expertise in Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies.
- A proactive and strategic mindset, making autonomous, high-impact technical decisions.
- Strong collaboration and leadership skills, with the ability to influence across teams.

- Experience in Agile development practices.
- Hands-on expertise with AWS services (Kafka/MSK, DocumentDB, DynamoDB, Aurora, ElastiCache, Elasticsearch, Lambda, API Gateway).
- Background in performance profiling, observability, and monitoring large-scale systems.
