For one of our partners - a Basel-based startup - we are seeking an experienced fermentation R&D Leader to join their team. The founders see this role as pivotal to the company’s future, offering the opportunity to become one of the main shareholders. Despite the startup environment, a competitive salary package is available.

The company is dedicated to providing an environmentally friendly alternative to plastic packaging across various industries and has already demonstrated success in this space. They are currently in the commercialization and up-scaling phase, making expertise in large-scale fermentation - preferably both solid and liquid - essential, alongside strong leadership skills and an entrepreneurial mindset.

The goal is to achieve batch volumes of up to 10,000 liters or 35,000 kilograms, requiring deep knowledge of fermentation processes and successful up-scaling. Experience in material development, foams, plastics, and sustainable alternatives - especially industrial bio-waste and sidestreams - would be a valuable asset.
