Job Title:Network & Security Engineer (ENG + NL)

Location: Brussels

Hybrid: Yes (2 days/week onsite, 3 days/week remote)

Type of Contract: Permanent Contract

Mandatory Languages: Fluent in English AND Dutch (c2)

Eligibility: Candidates must possess European nationality or a valid work permit for Belgium

About the Role

We are seeking a Network & Security Engineer to play a key role in the management and optimization of critical IT infrastructure. This position focuses on the administration, security, and expansion of networking and firewall systems, ensuring robust connectivity and protection for our operations.

As part of the IT Operations team, you will be responsible for both day-to-day network maintenance and the design and implementation of new solutions, supporting a highly secure and scalable enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and optimize network security devices, including F5 Big IP ADC and Palo Alto firewalls.
• Implement, upgrade, and configure Cisco ACI data center networking to enhance infrastructure efficiency.
• Manage and monitor Linux-based network environments, troubleshooting performance issues and implementing necessary fixes.
• Utilize Ansible and other configuration management tools to streamline and automate network processes.
• Develop and maintain Linux scripts (Bash, Python, Perl) for automation and monitoring.
• Perform network security audits, identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities.
• Collaborate with IT teams to improve network architecture and strengthen cybersecurity across the organization.
• Provide technical documentation, best practices, and knowledge-sharing within the team.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in IT, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in enterprise networking and security.
• Hands-on experience with F5 Big IP ADC and Palo Alto firewalls (configuration, upgrades, troubleshooting).
• Strong expertise in Cisco data center networking (ACI).
• Practical knowledge of Linux system management in enterprise environments.
• Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible.
• Proficiency in scripting languages: Bash, Python, or Perl.
• Ability to analyze network logs and NetFlow data to optimize security settings.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative IT environment.
• Fluent in Dutch (C2 CEFR level) and English.

Nice to Have

• Experience with enterprise storage solutions such as NetApp AFF, HPE Alletra 9000, HPE StoreOnce.
• Familiarity with security best practices and compliance requirements.
• Knowledge of IAM (Identity and Access Management) and Active Directory.
• Strong understanding of Windows Server patching and vulnerability remediation.
