Kraken powers some of the most innovative global developments in energy.

We’re a technology company focused on creating a smart, sustainable energy system. From optimising renewable generation, creating a more intelligent grid and enabling utilities to provide excellent customer experiences, our operating system for energy is transforming the industry around the world in a way that benefits everyone.

It’s a really exciting time in energy. Help us make a real impact on shaping a better, more sustainable future.

KrakenFlex

The energy industry is undergoing the largest transformation since industrialisation at an unprecedented rate of change and we are positioning ourselves to be at the heart of that change.

Our aim is to be the leading global provider of solutions that enable customers to release £30bn of value per annum from distributed energy resources (DERs). We are building a Software as a Service (SaaS) subscription business with a global addressable market of £2.4 billion per annum, by digitally connecting hundreds of thousands of DERs with energy markets.

We have already attained a market leading position and KrakenFlex is a recognised thought leader and innovator in the industry. Our efforts have not gone unnoticed and we are pleased to announce that we now have the full support and backing of Octopus Energy, an award-winning UK energy supplier who share our passion and values.

Help us make a big green dent in the universe. We're on a mission to drive the global renewable energy revolution, and we need loads more people to help us make our vision a reality. We're looking for a UX/UI Designer who is creative and passionate about designing simple, elegant user experiences, and using human-centred design as a source of inspiration to solve complex problems in the energy industry on behalf of our customers. You'll be working in a vibrant environment where people strive to solve the world's biggest problems. Kraken is a great place to learn, work with some talented people and level-up your skills.

What You'll Do

  • Work side-by-side with a talented team of engineers and product managers to build world-class applications and services, focusing on a range of large and small scale, complex design challenges.
  • Ownership of application features, from concept to design to engineer handoff.
  • Develop and maintain our in house design system and style guides.
  • Create exceptional visual interfaces.
  • Create mock-ups, prototypes, and simulations to validate the user experience early on, and coordinate with the developer’s implementation details to secure the quality in the final product.
  • You will have access to the global design/UX/UI team at Kraken, to share ideas and opinions.
  • You will understand and implement user friendly layouts, taking on the challenge of displaying complex data.

What You'll Need

  • Strong UI design skills, a proven ability to create pixel perfect layouts and components.
  • Solid experience in wireframing, user flows, process flows and site maps.
  • Strong experience in Figma.
  • Excellent attention to detail & an ability to work with complex data.
  • Experience working closely with software engineers.
  • A user-first approach to design thinking.
  • An ability to pick up work in a fast paced environment with a willingness to learn.
  • An ability to take ownership over a product.
  • An ability to respond to complicated briefs from stakeholders, make decisions and communicate an appropriate response/strategy.
  • Previous experience across digital design and UX/UI.
  • The ability to be a confident and flexible designer. Your sweet spot is the intersection of design and social impact.
  • An agile mindset; you can both nurture a cohesive product vision and finesse visual designs at a vector or pixel level.
  • An ability to relate to individuals and nurture other team members.
  • A degree in Graphic Design, UX/UI, Visual communication, or equivalent work experience.
  • Extensive experience with a variety of graphic design tools.
