YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
A Junior DevOps Engineer is a role for those with the appropriate educational background but limited working experience. This role is strongly focused on learning and development through support of the work of more senior colleagues.
Individuals in this role will:
- Spend a substantial portion of time shadowing others
- Build knowledge
- Work with other engineers to develop understanding of concepts and abilities relevant to DevOps role responsibilities listed below:
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, containerization, and orchestration using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Kubernetes, and Docker.
- Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines to enable seamless deployment of applications and services
- Implement automated testing and continuous integration processes to ensure code quality and reliability
- Set up and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure the health and performance of applications and infrastructure
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and application issues in a timely manner
- Collaborate with development, QA, and operations teams to understand their needs and provide DevOps support
- Advocate for and implement DevOps best practices within the organization
- Ensure infrastructure and application security by implementing best practices and compliance standards
- Provide and integrate solutions for security scanning and vulnerability assessment into the developer tool portfolio and CI/CD pipelines
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- First working experience as a DevOps Engineer or a similar role (:1 year)
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Experience with infrastructure-as-a-code tools (Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet)
- Understanding of setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and application issues
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Good communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Exposure to monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or Splunk
