We are urgently recruiting for a Network Engineer for an onsite, on-demand Project in either Brussels OR Dusseldorf. Our client is looking for candidates to start on the 20th February (Belgium) and 21st February (Germany).

Contract Duration: multiple days

Location: Brussels BE (OR) Dusseldorf, Germany

Freelance / B2B contract

40 hours a week / Full-time

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer to conduct a physical site survey and a wireless pre-survey at a Siemens site in Dusseldorf on February 21st / Brussels on 20th. This role involves on-site assessment of network infrastructure, wireless environment analysis, and detailed documentation. The ideal candidate will have experience in network infrastructure assessment, wireless survey methodologies, and report generation.

Responsibilities:

1. Physical Site Survey:

  • Identify and document WAN devices, including their placement and available ports (Copper/Fibre).
  • Capture details of network/server rooms (MDF & IDF) and mark them on floor maps.
  • Identify network racks, their locations, and available space.
  • Document rack layouts, power socket availability, and cooling setups.
  • Identify fibre/copper cabling types, patch panels, and free ports.
  • Record wired endpoint devices (Printers, CCTV, VoIP, etc.) and their port mappings.
  • Take clear photos of racks, patch panels, and devices for comprehensive documentation.
  • Accurately complete the site survey template provided by Infosys.


2. Wireless Pre-Survey:

  • Conduct a wireless survey using the AP on a Stick method with an Aruba AP 635.
  • Identify existing AP placements and assess the feasibility of using existing cabling for new AP installations.
  • Capture signal coverage (RSSI), SNR, channel interference, and transmit power for 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz frequency bands.
  • Document AP mounting locations, height, and ceiling/wall types.
  • Capture photos of existing APs and their connection points.
  • Identify high-density user areas and propose optimal AP placements to support these areas.
  • Generate a comprehensive wireless survey report including heatmaps and recommendations for coverage improvement.


Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in network infrastructure assessment and documentation.
  • Hands-on experience with wireless survey methodologies, including the AP on a Stick method.
  • Familiarity with Aruba AP 635 (or similar wireless survey tools).
  • Understanding of network cabling, patch panels, and various network devices.
  • Ability to interpret floor plans and technical documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data collection.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently on-site.
  • Willingness to travel to Dusseldorf OR Brussels.
