Senior Software Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated software engineer to join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in shaping the core technology of our business. In this role, you will be responsible for designing secure and scalable user-facing applications and backend systems for data ingestion, processing, and storage. We are based in Dublin, Ireland and while open to remote working, we require candidates to be within a +/- 2hr time zone to facilitate meetings/reporting/updates.

Principal duties and Responsibilities:

• Backend Development: Build and maintain backend services using Laravel, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability with a MySQL database. 
• Frontend Development: Develop and maintain VueJS dashboards and mobile applications using Flutter and native Android/iOS for Bluetooth connectivity. 
• Database Management: Design, optimize, and maintain MySQL databases to support application performance and data integrity. 
• App Release Management: Manage mobile app release cycles using CircleCI and Fastlane, ensuring seamless deployments to the App Store and Play Store. 
• Infrastructure Development: Use AWS CDK to manage infrastructure as code and maintain AWS Lambda-based serverless architectures. 
• IoT and Real-Time Communication: Develop solutions integrating with AWS IoT Core and MQTT for real-time device communication. 
• DevOps and CI/CD: Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Bitbucket and Docker, integrating with tools like CircleCI for mobile app deployments. 
• App Store and Play Store Management: Oversee submission, review, and release processes for the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, ensuring compliance with their guidelines. 
• Performance Monitoring: Set up monitoring tools to track system performance, quickly identifying and resolving issues to maintain high availability. 
• Security: Implement robust security measures, including data protection and secure communication protocols, to safeguard the system against vulnerabilities. 
• Documentation & Training: Develop comprehensive documentation for system architecture & provide training to promote a clear understanding of design & functionality. 
• Research and Development: Continuously identify and adopt new frameworks and practices to enhance system capabilities and development efficiency. 

Experience Required:

• 4+ years of professional experience in Software Engineer with demonstrated expertise in building and scaling platforms
• Advanced knowledge of AWS cloud platform, accreditation preferred.
• Proficiency in developing applications for Android and iOS platforms.
• Familiarity with native Android/iOS development for Bluetooth integration
• Strong experience with Laravel for backend development.
• Proficiency with VueJS for dashboards and Flutter for cross-platform mobile development.
• Proficiency with Docker and managing CI/CD pipelines.
• MySQL Experience, including database design, optimization, & query performance tuning
• Proven ability to architect, implement, and manage environment-specific setups (development, staging, production) to maintain system integrity across all stages of deployment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead debugging and performance optimisation efforts across the full technology stack, ensuring a reliable and responsive user experience.
• A proactive, self-starter mindset with a demonstrated ability to identify technical opportunities and drive innovation in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Experience Desired:

• Background in wearable technology or IoT ecosystems.
• Familiarity with app store submission guidelines, testing, and beta distribution via TestFlight and Play Console.
• Experience with CircleCI and Fastlane for automated app deployments.
• Knowledge of real-time communication protocols like MQTT & Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)
• Familiarity with industry compliance standards like HIPAA and ISO 27001.

• Cloud & Deployment: AWS App Services, Container Registries, Docker,CI/CD pipelines.
