My client is a rapidly growing technology company that provides a high-end CRM and payment gateway platform for businesses across multiple industries.

Their product seamlessly plugs into your eCommerce tools and allow the smoothest of payment processes and revenue generation. Their technology integrates easily with RESTful API and all of the leading 3rd party services and more. They also have an integration providing browser-side access to the JavaScript library.

They have successfully launched their platform in April of last year and have since achieved significant traction, with daily transaction volumes projected to increase significantly per day. Their vision is to become a market leader in this space and ultimately pursue a successful exit strategy. They have a strong presence in the US market and are now exploring opportunities for further expansion.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Senior Backend Engineer to join our growing team. You will play a critical role in the continued development and evolution of our platform.

Key Responsibilities:

• Development:
• Design, develop, and maintain core backend systems using PHP and the Laravel framework.
• Refactor existing codebase to improve performance, maintainability, and scalability.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs for integration with third-party services.
• Contribute to all aspects of the software development lifecycle, from design and development to testing and deployment.
• You’ll be also involved in building out a Vue/nuxt frontend capability working alongside other members of the team.
• Architectural Contributions:
• Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the platform's architecture, including exploring and implementing new technologies and best practices.
• Participate in design discussions and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Technology Exploration:
• Explore and evaluate new technologies and tools, such as AI/ML, to enhance the platform's capabilities.
• Investigate the potential of AI/ML for applications such as customer support (e.g., AI-powered chatbots) and product recommendations.
• Team Collaboration:
• Collaborate closely with the frontend developer, product manager, and other team members.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Strong proficiency in PHP and Laravel
• Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL)
• Experience with RESTful API design and development
• Solid understanding of software design principles (e.g., SOLID principles, design patterns)
• Experience with AWS cloud services (e.g., EC2, S3)
• Strong understanding of software testing methodologies (unit tests, integration tests)
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
• Strong communication and collaboration skills

Bonus Points:

• Experience with Node.js or other JavaScript frameworks
• Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with AI/ML technologies and their applications
