Python Developer

The role is open to freelance contractors who specialise in instrument control, automation, and data processing. You’ll be part of a team pushing the boundaries of technology, developing and maintaining Python-based software solutions to automate experimental measurements, integrate lab instruments, and optimize data workflows.

What You’ll Work On

Measurement Automation & Instrument Control

• Develop and enhance Python-based software solutions for automated measurement systems.
• Integrate and control lab instruments using GPIB, USB, RS232, and Ethernet protocols.
• Troubleshoot real-time data acquisition and instrument communication challenges.
• Implement robust logging and monitoring systems for maximum reliability.
• Work on wafer prober automation for photonic measurement systems.

Task Automation & Data Processing

• Design and implement automated workflows for experiment scheduling, data collection, and processing.
• Optimize Python scripts to handle large-scale experimental data efficiently.
• Automate data quality control to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Explore AI-driven data validation and anomaly detection.

Database & Cloud Integration

• Develop Python solutions for efficient data storage and retrieval.
• Integrate with Azure cloud databases (e.g., Azure SQL Database, Cosmos DB) for scalable data management (preferred).
• Implement security best practices for data access and management.

What You Bring

• Expertise in Python with experience in system automation, instrument control, and backend development.
• Hands-on experience interfacing with lab instruments via GPIB, RS232, USB, and Ethernet.
• Proven ability to develop automation frameworks for measurement and data processing.
• Familiarity with cloud databases and query optimization.
• Strong Git skills for version control and collaborative development.
• Bonus: Experience in AI-driven data validation and predictive analytics.
