About the Role

An opportunity has arisen for a Project Manager to join a major energy company undergoing a large-scale trading and digital transformation program. This role will be pivotal in structuring, overseeing, and delivering key projects that support the business’s evolving energy trading capabilities.

The organisation is rebuilding its trading and risk management framework, focusing on asset-backed trading, digitalisation, and process optimisation. This role sits at the heart of a multi-year transformation initiative, requiring professionals with a strong trading, technology, and change management background.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide project management across multiple energy trading projects, ensuring structured delivery, risk management, and governance.

• Work closely with business and technology stakeholders to define and structure key trading programs.

• Coach and support project leads, ensuring they have the right methodologies, frameworks, and guidance.

• Drive transparency in project execution, ensuring clear reporting, communication, and risk identification.

• Support the decommissioning of legacy trading systems and the implementation of new digital tools.

• Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between business users, IT teams, and external consultants.

• Ensure alignment with regulatory and operational requirements within the energy sector.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Strong background in project management, or program delivery within energy or commodities trading.

• Understanding of ETRM/CTRM systems and their role in modern trading operations.

• Experience working in a highly structured, regulated environment.

• Ability to work effectively in flat, delivery-focused teams, wearing multiple hats as needed.

• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage with senior leadership and technical teams.

• Willingness to work onsite in Essen regularly (typically every two weeks for stakeholder engagement).

• Fluency in English (German is beneficial but not required).
