Hybrid/Cork (2 days per week required onsite until up to speed, Will then allow more flexible remote work within Ireland)

Our client, a large financial organisation based in Cork, is seeking a Software Engineer with strong IT Operations expertise to support the migration of their applications to Google Cloud (completion scheduled by end of Q3). The environment is primarily Windows-based (80%), and the role involves both on-premises and cloud-based responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

* Application Setup: Install application software in test environments.
* Deployment & Monitoring: Monitor applications, automate deployment processes, and ensure smooth operations.
* Issue Resolution: Collaborate with development and testing teams to investigate and resolve technical issues.
* Technical Oversight: Log and follow up on issues while liaising with Development and Infrastructure teams.
* Reporting & Documentation: Provide regular and consistent reporting to team members and stakeholders.
* Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process automation and contribute to testing tool development.

Mandatory Skills & Experience

* Education: University degree in an IT-related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
* Linux & Windows: Proven experience with Linux environments and strong Windows OS skills (services administration, PowerShell).
* Databases & Scripting: Proficiency in Oracle SQL and/or MySQL, along with shell scripting.
* Infrastructure as Code: Hands-on experience with Terraform.
* Cloud Technologies: Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for deployment and infrastructure.
Desirable Knowledge
* Tooling: Exposure to GitHub, Jenkins, Jira, Docker, Kubernetes, or Ansible.
