Our client, an Oil & Gas company, is seeking a Project Engineering Manager to work a 1-year contract in Calgary, AB.
The Project Engineering Manager is responsible for ensuring safe, fit-for-purpose and effective technical solutions, on a specific project. The Project Engineering Manager is the primary interface between the Project Manager, Technical Services, Operations, and the engineering services providers.
- Technical Services is engaged throughout the lifecycle of the Project, supporting development, design, execution, commissioning and subsequent support to Operations.
- Project engineering deliverables meet the company’s technical and quality requirements and expectations
Responsibilities
- Leads a team of discipline engineers to deliver project design and engineering deliverables that meet the company’s quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
- Manages project interfaces, including internal SMEs, engineering companies, project controls, procurement, and third-party contractors as it relates to project technical matters
- Provides guidance on design and technical direction to Discipline Engineers.
- Supports the company’s PDS process including engagement with the project through to close-out (Stage 5).
- Provides technical input and support for overall project progress and reporting.
- Assists the Project Management team in planning and identifying technical issues affecting progress or budgets.
- Manages EPs and monitors engineering progress, addresses shortfalls, and assures recovery plans are implemented.
- Participates in and may lead multi-discipline Engineering Design Reviews, coordinating input, close-out and approval.
- Ensures engineering documents and drawings are completed and available to Operations and Construction in a timely manner
- Support CSU activities and ensure documents and drawings are turned over in a timely manner
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience required.
- P.Eng. registered in Alberta.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with multiple stakeholders
- Experience in successfully executing capital projects ($200MM +)
- Previous related experience working for Engineering/Client Technical Services organizations.
- Capable of formulating resolutions to technically challenging and/or high-profile issues with support from consultants and Internal Discipline Engineers and effectively communicates with Senior Project Management.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and analytical skills
- Experience in Engineering & Design in liquid pipeline and pump station facilities is preferred.
- Broad knowledge of all engineering and quality discipline activities.
- Understand standard equipment specifications and codes.
- Ability to plan execution interfaces and take corrective action regarding engineering design.
Travel and Working Conditions
- The position is based out of the Calgary office.
- Frequent travel is expected to locations outside of Calgary.
- Winter and off-highway driving skills are required.
Pre-Requisite Training
- Valid Standard First Aid
- Valid H2S Alive (required for sour facility projects, if applicable)
