Software Engineer

Are you a passionate Software Developer looking for an exciting new opportunity? Our client is looking for a technically minded Software Developer to work in their dynamic systems team. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys tackling complex challenges. As a Software Developer, you will be responsible for developing low latency, highly available, and scalable solutions. You will work on creating concurrent distributed components and leveraging Linux and GNU utilities to handle high transaction volumes efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop low latency, highly available, and scalable solutions.
• Create concurrent distributed components.
• Utilize Linux and GNU utilities.
• Operate in an environment with high transaction volumes.
• Support and enhance the existing code base.
• Identify technical areas for improvement.
• Contribute to solution proposals as required.
• Create work effort estimates.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Strong academic background, ideally with a BSc/MSc in an IT-related field or relevant industry experience.
• Server-side development experience (services, systems, messaging, middleware).
• Exposure to functional programming languages such as Python, Erlang, Haskell, F#, Scala, or Go. (Erlang or Go/Golang is ideal but they can train you if you don't have this :))
• Experience with distributed systems.
• Familiarity with complex event processing or continuous query languages.
• Client/server development experience.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills

• Exposure to functional programming languages.
• Knowledge of distributed systems.
• Knowledge client/server development expertise.
• Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a team.

Compensation and Benefits

• Competitive salary up to £65,000 per annum (But we can be flexible so please apply if you are ideally looking for more than this).
