Responsibilities, Duties And Expectations
- Create efficient, high-quality, and scalable Java-based Android apps that interface with embedded systems and software
- Work closely with embedded software engineers to ensure seamless communication between mobile applications and embedded systems, contributing to the integration of both hardware and software solutions
- Design and implement user-friendly interfaces for mobile applications, ensuring a smooth and intuitive experience for end users
- Identify and resolve issues in the application code, collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex technical challenges, and optimise app performance
- Write and maintain unit tests, perform rigorous testing of applications, and ensure that applications meet quality standards before deployment
- Document development processes, technical specifications, and software designs to ensure clear communication within the development team
- Stay up-to-date with the latest Android development trends and best practices, continuously seeking opportunities to improve application performance, functionality, and user experience.
- Bachelor"s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or significant experience)
- Proven experience in Java development for Android apps (Java 8 or later), with a portfolio of completed projects (including any personal or open-source contributions)
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin for Android development
- Experience with Android SDK, APIs, and mobile app development tools
- Familiarity with embedded systems and the challenges involved in integrating Android applications with hardware
- Knowledge of embedded communication protocols (e.g., UART, SPI, I2C, etc.) is desirable
- Experience with version control systems such as Git
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and modern software development practices
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, solution-oriented approach to development
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- A passion for developing high-quality, performance-driven software.
- Experience in setting up Android development environments.
- Previous exposure to developing TAK Plugins
- Experience with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or other wireless communication protocols used for embedded systems.
- Familiarity with real-time data processing and signal handling.
- Knowledge of security considerations when working with mobile applications and embedded systems.
