As Our Data Scientist (AgTech), You Will
- Work collaboratively within a team of scientists and technical staff from within the department and with other research organisations, such as universities and private collaborating organisations.
- Apply statistical and/or artificial intelligence methodologies to solve applied problems arising in agricultural research.
- Work closely with agricultural engineers, researchers, and domain experts to understand business needs and translate them into data-driven solutions.
- Develop and implement predictive models using machine learning and artificial intelligence to optimise agricultural processes and outcomes.
- Analyse complex datasets using a range of statistics software packages such as R and python.
- Build algorithms and statistical models to predict critical agricultural metrics.
We are seeking the best suited candidate for the role. We will achieve this by:
- assessing your eligibility and suitability to fulfill the role requirements (including, where relevant, the way you carried out previous roles)
- evaluating your potential contributions to the department and how your involvement would uphold our commitment to equity, diversity, respect, and inclusion.
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Agricultural Science, Data Science, Computer Science or in a field relevant to the position (e.g. bioinformatics, mathematics, statistics, artificial intelligence) from a recognised tertiary institution or equivalent academic qualifications.
- For international qualifications, the applicant will need their qualification assessed, to determine comparability with the Australian Qualifications Framework.
