Information Technology Security Engineer
Job Overview:
As an IT Security Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining security measures to protect our company’s information technology infrastructure. This includes managing firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and security protocols, as well as working collaboratively with other teams to ensure the safety and integrity of data and IT assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage security architecture and infrastructure.
- Monitor network traffic for any irregularities and take appropriate action to mitigate threats.
- Perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and resolve security weaknesses.
- Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and documentation.
- Investigate security breaches and provide remediation steps.
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure security best practices are applied across all systems.
- Implement and manage encryption, identity management, and access control systems.
- Conduct regular security audits and maintain compliance with industry regulations and standards.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest security trends, vulnerabilities, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide security training and awareness programs for company employees.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum of [X] years of experience in IT security, network security, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and endpoint security solutions.
- Experience with risk management and incident response practices.
- In-depth knowledge of common security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, CIS).
- Proficiency in security tools and technologies such as SIEM, DLP, Anti-Virus/Anti-malware, and encryption technologies.
- Experience with security testing tools and methods (e.g., vulnerability scanners, penetration testing).
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance standards, including GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI-DSS.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with cloud security practices (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation tasks.
- Experience working with SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) systems.
- Strong understanding of network protocols, TCP/IP, and network security technologies.
