Summary

Would you like to work with one of Britain’s biggest retail brands? M&S is on a journey of transformation for customer and colleague experiences at many levels. As we continue that journey, we’re looking for curious, enthusiastic, collaborative Product Designers to join our team. As a Product Designer, you’ll work across the product lifecycle from design to delivery and further iterations. As part of our wider Product Design and UX Research team, you might work on our M&S website and app, to interfaces and screens in our retail stores, and on products and services that support our colleagues working across M&S.

To stay close to customers, our support teams are in the office three days a week as we believe that skills are developed through collaboration, and that spending time together makes us more creative and connected.

What You'll Do

  • Using and contributing to an evolving design system across different platforms – in-store checkout, kiosk, web, native app etc
  • Gathering and applying insight from user research, A/B and MVT testing, and analytics to improve and iterate your work.
  • Creating design artefacts such as concept maps, navigation structures, user journeys, interaction flows, UI schematics, wireframes, UI designs, visual and brand designs, animations – that build the delivery of high-quality user experiences.
  • Collaborating closely in a cross-functional Product team to contribute human-centred design in a timely, appropriate, and collaborative way to achieve the team goals. Be the go-to person for the design perspective and understanding of the customer.
  • Communicating and finding things out – curious and analytical, you have an active curiosity about the wider business context of your work and are keen to discuss and share what you uncover with your team.

  • You've worked across web and native app and are proficient with the design languages, patterns, and technologies that build stories on these platforms.
  • Your passion for human-centric design is infectious, and you infuse your approach to your work with this passion. Your portfolio demonstrates your skills in understanding people and solving problems for them.
  • You are pragmatic and able see how an idea will support commercial goals, as well as being feasible within the boundaries of technology.
  • You actively seek out feedback on your work and your approach, and you work to turn that into learning and improvements.
