DevOps Engineer

Our Customer is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join their team and contribute to a high-impact project involving the decommissioning of multiple Jira self-hosted instances and migration to GitLab.

This role will focus on streamlining development workflows, improving CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring the smooth transition of our development infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Short-Term Objectives:

• Migrate Development Infrastructure:
• Decommission three Jira self-hosted instances and two associated in-house test/build systems.
• Transition to GitLab Ultimate for enhanced productivity, visibility, and collaboration.
• Manage the migration of Jira data and Mercurial repositories to Git.
• Establish streamlined integrations between GitLab, Salesforce, AWS, and other associated systems.
• Pipeline Development & Management:
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for functional/UI testing, code signing, and artifact management.
• Optimize pipelines for vCenter (VMware), Docker containers, and third-party libraries.
• Production Support & Development:
• Provide support post-migration and continue optimizing GitLab functionalities.
• Work closely with developers, testers, and subject matter experts to refine processes.
• Overcome technical challenges by actively participating in project assessments and prioritization.

Long-Term Objectives:

• Enhance DevOps Pipelines:
• Improve efficiency, speed, and security of software development and deployment.
• Optimize developer experience and remove friction in CI/CD workflows.
• Implement modern DevSecOps practices, enabling proactive security and vulnerability management.
• Adopt Best Practices in Automation & Infrastructure Management:
• Introduce tools that empower developers to release secure software faster.
• Drive a DevSecOps culture across the organization.
• Continuously improve testing, deployment, and monitoring strategies.

Must have Key Skills & Experience:

• Proficiency in Python, bash scripting, PowerShell, and Docker.
• Experience managing CI/CD pipelines using GitLab or similar tools.
• Hands-on experience with VMWare or OpenStack virtual machines.
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL, YAML, Git, and cloud platforms like Azure and AWS.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and Salesforce is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical discussions.
• Highly organized, self-motivated, and adept at prioritizing tasks effectively.
