Are you a passionate and eager UX Researcher looking to work with global clients under the supervision of Dr. Marlen Promann, PhD in Human Computer Interaction and Innovation? Dr. Promann has worked and consulted for organizations like Purdue University, NASA, Salesforce, Ford, the 2012 London Olympics Committee, and many others.

This role presents a prime opportunity to continue cultivating your expertise in customer and user research, data collection and analysis, and delivering industry standard actionable insights. Your responsibilities will encompass designing and executing user studies, gathering and delivering compelling insights, synthesizing best practice guidelines and process documents (SOPs), and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize, design and assist in the development of unique services and products.
As a result of the learning curve in this internship, we also expect you to be proactive, highly motivated and talented to learn both in an independent unstructured way and to utilize our internal proprietary learning resources to guide yourself along with Dr. Promann's mentorship.
Location: Remote / Virtual in Chicago Central Time Zone.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactivity and enthusiasm for design and technology, and to seed the creation of technological experiences for people that are seamless and delightful.
- Collaborating with different teams of internal and external designers to ensure the creation and delivery of tailored experiences for the digital user.
- Distill briefs and problems into research questions, plans and sequential roadmaps.
- Use a variety of secondary and primary research methods to uncover user behaviors, current standards and habits, needs and motivations to make products, services and websites more intuitive and enjoyable for users.
- Test assumptions about users and their use of technologies.
- Distill data analysis into clear concise and actionable insights with your personal tactical and strategic recommendations and reasons behind them.
- Author research and strategy documents and you may be involved in writing copy for products, apps, websites and SOPs.
- Produce UX artifacts such as workflows, sketches, wireframes, journey maps, low and high-fidelity mock-ups, storyboards, etc.
- Constantly refine designs through user feedback, whether through hands-on user research, or designing options for A/B tests.
- We appreciate creativity and innovation, to come up with new ideas.
- Apply knowledge and experience to create and maintain UI and UX guidelines with a focus on providing a modern and consistent experience to our customers.
- Staying current on emerging trends in user-centered methodologies, accessibility, UI design patterns, usability principles, and web technologies.
- Assist the design team with ad-hoc projects.
Minimum Requirements:
- Basic fluency in English or Estonian.
- Must be willing to work in the US Central Time Zone business hours.
- At least 1 year of UX research experience with a portfolio of personal projects, work experience case studies, and/or university coursework showcasing research methods you have used (how and why) and skills you gained, including analytical thinking, problem solving, and aesthetic sensibility.
- Working knowledge of Google Workspace, Trello, Miro, and at least one of the wireframing software: Adobe XD, Figma, InVision, Webflow, Axure RP, Sketch.
- Meticulous attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to distill analysis, present your research findings, and the reasons behind your design decisions.
- Proficient in collecting, analyzing and reporting secondary and primary research, analyzing and synthesizing insights, recommendations, and prioritizing user pain points (usability), needs, and desires.
- Strong ability to write and communicate clearly and concisely. You may be involved in writing copy for products, apps, websites, and certainly for research and strategy documents.
- Passion for user research, learning the best practices and reflectively writing guidelines and SOPs for internal and external sharing.
Preferred Additional Requirements:
- 6 months of No-code/Low-code development experience using tools like Bubble.io and/or Softr.io is a plus.
