Principal Frontend Engineer – React

VALE Partners have been engaged by a Brisbane based SaaS success story to find their next Principal Engineer. This is an opportunity to join a company working alongside technical business leaders where you’ll set the standard across teams for code quality and standard.

Role Overview

• Design and develop scalable, high-performing React applications for both existing and new product workflows.
• Drive architectural decisions and establish long-term frontend technical strategies.
• Lead the implementation of new features while maintaining and optimising existing systems.
• Monitor application performance and proactively identify and resolve technical challenges.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers and backend engineers, to deliver seamless user experiences.
• Provide technical mentorship through code reviews and knowledge-sharing sessions.

What You'll Ideally Have

• Extensive experience building modern, enterprise-grade web applications with React.js, including component-based architecture and state management (Redux).
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript, modern ES6+ JavaScript features, and best practices for scalable frontend development.
• Experience integrating React applications with RESTful APIs or GraphQL.
• Hands-on experience with performance optimisation techniques, accessibility, and responsive UI development.
• Proficiency with frontend tooling, including Webpack or Babel, and experience with CI/CD pipelines for frontend deployments.
• Familiarity with component libraries and design systems (Tailwind, or Chakra UI).
• Experience working in cloud-based environments and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes is a plus).
• The backend tech stack is PHP – Previous experience with Laravel is highly regarded
• A track record of leading technical projects while mentoring other developers.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• A self-motivated mindset with enthusiasm for collaborative practices like pair programming and code reviews.
