Cloud Engineer

New role for a Cloud Engineer – AWS, Kubernetes, Elastic Search, Spark, Python – Up to $180k package + bonus – Sydney – 3 days in the office.

We have a cool new role for a mid—or senior-level DevOps Engineer. This role will involve working across four development teams and a large data platform in a small cloud team within a fintech company.

If you’re on a path to becoming a senior DevOps engineer but are not quite there yet, this could be a great option for a busy team.

This is a cloud infra engineering role in a bank, supporting various teams and working alongside five other cloud engineers.

I’d say this role is 1/3 supporting engineer’s requirements, 1/3 supporting ongoing operations and uplifting to existing, and 1/3 building new features.

This isn’t a support/sys-admin role, nor is it a super-senior/tech lead level DevOps role. This is a hands-on role with AWS/Kubernetes/Elastic search, running and maintaining clusters/systems, responding to incidents and building new requirements. Daily tasks could range from creating entirely new infrastructure solutions to support new product features to extending existing frameworks they use today.

You will also need to be a great communicator and proactive.

There is also significant work to remediate and uplift security solutions (e.g. implementation of next-generation firewalls, Just in time-privileged access, etc.)

We don’t need a software engineer, but if you can cut Python or even some Java – it could be super handy to understand what's happening around you.

Some of the things we’re looking for;

• In-depth knowledge of various AWS services

• The ability to break down problems and solve them systematically and collaboratively

• Commercial experience of: CI/CD tools - Jenkins and Bitbucket Pipelines, network fundamentals and security principles, scripting, Big Data tools like Spark and automation using languages such as Bash and Python.
