My client who operate in the Web3 space are looking to hire their first DevOps Engineer to come on board and take ownership of their DevOps estate. As part of this initiative, they are building a dedicated OPS team to complement our existing product development team. The Senior DevOps Engineer will play a pivotal role as the first member of this team, working closely with the CTO and Principal Developer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the reliable and smooth delivery of our fundraising application to customers, especially during high-traffic events.
  • Mitigate and control incoming traffic spikes, both organic and potential DDOS attacks.
  • Lead efforts to achieve SOC2 certification in 2024 by developing, implementing, and documenting robust security processes.
  • Conduct regular security audits, collaborating with security auditors to proactively detect and prevent potential threats.
  • Maintain reliable and user-friendly development and test environments for the development and QA teams.

What You'll Do

  • Implement Cloudflare waiting rooms to manage traffic during popular fundraisers.
  • Develop controls and policies in Secureframe to achieve SOC2 compliance.
  • Set up custom domains for premium customers and automate the setup process for efficiency.
  • Explore the possibility of moving servers from Heroku to AWS or another cloud provider.
  • Configure Redis databases to handle traffic spikes effectively.
  • Address false positives from antivirus and Web3 wallet security software, collaborating with relevant companies for solutions.

Requirements

Must-haves:

  • Experience managing operations for a Ruby on Rails app serving tens of thousands of users.
  • Proficient in working with AWS and Heroku.
  • Comfortable with ad-hoc requests and on-call responsibilities outside of working hours.
  • Decent programming skills, capable of modifying a Ruby on Rails application.
  • Experience with both SQL and no-SQL databases.
  • Familiarity with CI server setups.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Web3 and blockchain technology.
  • Experience with Redis, Hotwire, Javascript/Typescript, Cloudflare, Github Actions (CI), SecureFrame, Brakeman.
