Data Scientist - Summer Internship 2025

ABAX is seeking a summer intern for our Data Science team for the summer of 2025 (mid-June until mid-August). During your internship, you will work closely with the whole value chain on a wide range of projects comprising analytics, automation, and diagnostics. You will work on exciting projects using large amounts of data from telematics and ERP, developing both innovative new features and products, as well as assisting the value chain with data-driven insights.

Focus Areas

Based on your unique strengths and interests, the scope of tasks may vary. However, your focus will include:

• Perform data research and analytics to gain insight or create value for customers, employees, and/or owners of ABAX
• Apply relevant qualitative methods in research
• Utilize best practices within the fields of Machine Learning (ML), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Statistical Analysis in order to solve complex problems not possible with traditional algorithms

We are looking for

We believe you should have a burning interest in data science and analysis to get the most out of your internship. Ideally combined with an eagerness to learn more and develop further. You probably study (or have studied) statistics, mathematics, physics, computer science, data science, or machine learning/AI, and have an analytical approach to problem-solving. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, analytical, eager to learn, and detail-oriented with a practical and positive mindset. You take responsibility and work well alone and in teams.

Some practical pointers that will benefit you:

• Programming skills in R or Python
• Analytical skills within mathematics and understanding basics of statistical modelling
• Familiarity with Data Engineering and data pipelines (ETL)
• Familiarity with databases and SQL
  
  

The following would be a bonus, but is not required to perform well:

• Experience with geospatial analysis
• Experience with Causal inference and do-calculus
