About the Role - The Junior SysOps Engineer plays an operational role in incident analysis, diagnostic improvement and process documentation. He/She ensures rigorous monitoring of alerts and performance indicators and participates in the development of SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) and ITIL best practices
Responsibilities
- Monitoring and management of alerts
- Ensure real-time monitoring of alerts reported by supervision tools (infrastructure, middleware, applications) and by suppliers.
- Qualify first-level incidents based on existing runbooks and checklists.
- Alert and escalate complex incidents to the Senior SysOps and LEV2/LEV3 teams (LOT1, LOT2, LOT3).
- Participate in on-call duty to ensure continuity of 24/7 support.
- Initial diagnosis and documentation of incidents
- Collect and analyze logs, metrics and performance indicators to facilitate incident diagnosis.
- Complete incident reports and ensure the updating of tickets in the ITSM tool (JIRA).
- Contribute to improving the knowledge base by enriching the documentation with feedback.
- Technical assistance and support for LEV1
- Help LEV1 teams understand and interpret technical alerts.
- Explain the mechanisms of recurring incidents and suggest improvements to speed up their resolution.
- Provide operational support in ticket management and tracking until resolution.
- Participation in postmortems and continuous improvement
- Attend “blame-free” postmortems and contribute to the analysis of critical incidents.
- Identify and suggest improvements to limit the recurrence of incidents.
- Monitor performance indicators (SLI, SLO, SLA, MTTD, MTTR) and help improve them.
- Updating and improving runbooks and playbooks
- Write and update runbooks and operational procedures for LEV1.
- Ensure the clarity and accessibility of guides to guarantee a good understanding of the processes.
- Work in collaboration with the Senior SysOps to enrich internal repositories.
- Monitoring and skills development
- Acquire progressive expertise on managed technical environments (Linux, Kubernetes, Kafka, databases, monitoring).
- Experiment with supervision, automation and observability tools to improve skills.
Qualification and Required Skills
- Relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in computer science or related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience to perform the advertised tasks.
- Good understanding and experience in SRE / Operations principles and frameworks, DevOps and DevSecOps principles.
- Fluent in French or Dutch
Technical Skills / Nice to have
- Systems: Good understanding of Linux environments.
- Virtualization & Containers: Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes (a plus).
- Middleware & Messaging: Notions of Kafka, JBoss, SpringBoot, HAProxy.
- Observability and Monitoring: Familiarity with tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, ELK.
- Databases: Knowledge of PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL.
- Automation & Scripting: Basic knowledge of Bash, Python, Ansible.
- SRE Methodology: Understanding of SLI, SLO principles, postmortems, advanced monitoring.
- ITIL v4: Awareness of Incident, Problem, Change Management processes.
Must have Skills:

- Sense of collaboration and ability to work in a team.
- Good written and oral communication skills to document and popularize technical problems.
