The Sultan Qaboos Comprehensive Cancer Care & Research Center (SQCCCRC) in Muscat Oman a Quaternary care level center providing care for adult patients with solid malignancies (No hematological malignancies).
SQCCCRC is seeking to appoint an Clinical Research Database Specialist, who is a highly motivated individual to develop her/his professional career within the Centre. The SQCCCRC is aspiring to be a high-tech center with innovative -patient and staff centered- technologies.
Job Summary:
The Clinical Research Database Specialist is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of clinical research databases. They ensure the accuracy, integrity, and security of research data, and they collaborate with research teams to support data collection and analysis. This role requires a strong understanding of clinical research protocols, data management principles, and database systems.
Education/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., life sciences, computer science, informatics).
- Strong understanding of clinical research principles and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.
- Proficiency in database management systems (e.g., SQL, Oracle, Microsoft Access), and data capture form development
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations and compliance (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR).
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience in clinical research or a related field is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Database Design and Development:
- Collaborate with the study team to help design and develop relational databases tailored to specific clinical research projects.
- Create data entry forms and templates for research data collection.
- Ensure data capture forms are compliant with regulatory requirements and research protocols.
Data Entry and Management:
- Work alongside the clinical research nurse to oversee the entry of research data into databases, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Implement data validation checks and quality control processes to maintain data integrity.
- Perform data cleaning and resolve data discrepancies as needed.
Database Maintenance:
- Regularly update and maintain databases to reflect protocol amendments and changes.
- Implement security measures to protect sensitive and confidential data.
- Ensure databases are compliant with data privacy regulations, such as HIPAA or GDPR.
Collaboration:
- Collaborate with clinical research teams, including investigators, coordinators, and statisticians, to support their data needs.
- Provide training and support to research staff for data entry and database usage.
- Assist in the development of data analysis plans and reports.
Documentation:
- Maintain detailed documentation of database design, data dictionary, and data management processes.
- Generate reports and summaries for research teams and regulatory authorities.
Quality Assurance:
- Perform audits and quality assurance checks on research data and databases to ensure compliance with research protocols and regulatory standards.
Technical Skills:
- Stay updated with database management software and tools relevant to clinical research, such as Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems.
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to database systems.
Clinical Research Database Specialists are essential for ensuring the accurate and secure management of data in clinical trials and research studies, which is critical for maintaining the quality and integrity of the research findings.
Salary will be based upon qualification, experience and availability of vacancy, using Oman Medical Bylaw.
