The Role

Herzum is looking for an experienced Senior Software Architect (Java Spring) to join our team and support one of our Clients.

Key Responsabilities:

• Drive technological advancements as an innovative and proactive software architect.
• Take responsibility within a self-organized team, actively shaping work methods and environment.
• Develop, test, and operate cloud-based applications.
• Design applications, components, interfaces, and user interfaces.
• Define and implement new functionalities, including effort estimation.
• Ensure end-to-end implementation (analysis, development, testing, and operations) of features and
  
  
  

applications.

• Guarantee smooth application operation in a complex system landscape.
• Act as a senior architect, fostering team development and guiding colleagues through technical and
  
  
  

methodological challenges.

• Take cross-team responsibility to deliver high-value features for customers.
• Mediate and provide solutions in conflict situations, ensuring alignment with the overall business objectives.
  
  
  

Must-Have Requirements:

• Degree in Computer Science (ETH, Uni, FH) or equivalent qualification.
• Extensive experience with Java and Spring, as well as cloud-based test and build toolchains (Tekton).
• Strong knowledge of agile software development, design patterns, test-driven development, and source
  
  
  

code management (Git/Bitbucket).

• Expertise in cloud architectures and patterns (particularly OpenShift, Docker, etc.).
• Strong affinity for clean software architecture and simple solution approaches.
• Excellent communication skills and fluent German (negotiation level).
  
  
  

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Experience with message-driven architectures and communication patterns.
• Hands-on experience with microservices-based applications.
• Proficiency in PostgreSQL or other relational databases.
• Knowledge of frontend technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, Angular, etc.) is a plus.
  
  
  

Location: 40% on-site in Bern, 60% remote (within Switzerland only, due to internal regulations).
