Working closely with the Manager, Business Intelligence and Customer Reporting (BICR), the Assistant Data Analyst contributes to the maintenance, development and implementation of various performance reporting methods and systems to monitor and project performance data pertaining to the topics of employment, small business and vocational education and training (VET).

About The Role

As the Assistant Data Analyst, you will:

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of business intelligence solutions by assisting in the research, development, implementation and evaluation of key projects, business processes, administration and information systems associated with the work of Data and Analytics
  • Provide operational advice and support in relation to specific aspects of business intelligence solutions, processes and operational policies with respect to internal and external data about trade, employment, and the delivery of vocational education and training (VET) including apprenticeships and traineeships.


What We Are Looking For

The position requires an applicant who:

  • Participates in the development, implementation, review and maintenance of business intelligence systems, processes and work practices, identify areas for improvement, recommend and implement enhancements to existing practices, including the development of resources, systems and processes to support the work of Data and Analytics
  • Develops and maintain professional collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, prioritise work and take personal responsibility to ensure that timely and efficient service delivery and project management is provided, deadlines are met, personal and team performance benchmarks are achieved.
  • Prepares a range of documentation and correspondence in accordance with departmental communication protocols, information standards and records and project management procedures, including responses to requests from the Minister and senior departmental officers.
  • Builds and sustains effective networks with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure that knowledge and information is shared, and the practices, operations and systems reflect contemporary administrative and management practices It is highly desirable for applicants to possess a bachelor's degree or higher in data science, statistics, mathematics, engineering, or similar quantitative field - or have at least one years' experience in a similar data analytics role.
