Director, Lead Expert Product Platforms

Job Description
Danfoss Drives is looking for an experienced Lead Expert, Product Platform Strategy & Technology to ensure that we continue to be at the forefront of technological transformations.

Join us to drive a product platform that integrates research, speeds up innovation, and delivers business results. In this role, you will lead product platform strategies and support collaborative R&D initiatives that strengthen our Drives divisions and enhance our competitive position.

You will be located in one of our offices in Grasten, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Tampere or Vaasa.

Job Responsibilities
Strategy & Governance

• Define, communicate, and maintain a compelling platform vision and roadmap that aligns with product goals and business targets
• Ensure governance to guide platform decision-making and implementation
• Accelerate time-to-market and secure broad adoption of new or reused platform assets
  
  

Research & Technology Management

• Create and manage software technology strategy integrating emerging technologies and academic insights to support our business
• Lead corresponding software-focused research
• Act as a technology manager for software research when needed, collaborating with Drives teams, academia, and external research partners
  
  

Background & Skills

• Master's degree in engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. Advanced degree (e.g., Ph.D.) preferred
• Demonstrated success (5+ years) in platform management, R&D leadership, or technology strategy roles
• Strong understanding of embedded real-time software architectures, product engineering lifecycles, and emerging technology trends. Experience with power electronics is beneficial
• Proven record of accomplishment in leading cross-disciplinary or academic collaborations for product innovation
• Ability to translate high-level business objectives into cohesive visions, roadmaps, and tactical plans
• Optionally experience in securing and managing external funding or research grants
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, adept at influencing across multiple business units and dotted-line relationships
• Strong interpersonal communication, listening, and influencing skills, with the ability to champion change, rally teams around innovative ideas, and drive measurable improvements
• Tangible business performance impact from platform driven products
• History of delivering measurable gains in time-to-market and ensuring high adoption rates for research outcomes
• Fluent English language skills and ability to navigate across cultures
